# Multiple competing CTAs — dev spec
Site: yahoo.com · Priority 2 · High · Effort: High (5+ days)

## Problem
The homepage presents several competing primary CTAs (Sign in, See more stories, See forecast) without a single clear action, diluting user focus and reducing conversion likelihood.

## Evidence (from the live site)
> CTAs on '/' include 'Sign in', 'See more stories on Yahoo 100', and 'See forecast'.
> No dominant CTA; users are presented with multiple paths.

## Current state
h1: None; cta: Multiple: Sign in, See more stories, See forecast; notes: No dominant CTA; users are presented with multiple paths.

## Required change
h1: Welcome to Yahoo; cta: Sign in to personalize your feed; notes: Prioritize a single primary CTA (e.g., Sign in) and de-emphasize secondary links.

## Acceptance criteria
- GIVEN a first-time visitor on the affected page
- WHEN the change is live
- THEN Prioritize a single primary CTA (e.g., Sign in) and de-emphasize secondary links.
- AND no layout regression at 375px / 768px / 1280px
- AND the changed control is keyboard-reachable with an accessible name

## Tracking
- Fire `cro_multiple_competing_ctas` on interaction with the changed element
- Verify the event fires in BOTH variants before opening traffic

## Test plan
- Two-proportion z-test, 95% significance, 80% power
- 315,206 visitors per variant to detect a 5.0% relative lift
- Run at least one full business cycle; duration depends on traffic

## Rollback
Feature-flag the change; revert if the primary metric drops for 3 consecutive days.
